Switching from Mounjaro to Wegovy

Starting Dose and Dose Comparison 

Mounjaro : Dose Equivalent Starting Dose of Wegovy Notes

  • 12.5 mg  1 mg  Only increase under medical supervision 
  • 7.5 mg  0.5mg  May require slower titration 
  • 2.5 mg  0.25 mg (initial titration)  Start low to minimize side effects 
  • 5 mg  0.5 mg  Gradually increase as tolerated 
  • 10 mg  1 mg  Adjust according to response 
  • 15 mg  1 mg  Highest Mounjaro doses still start low on

Wegovy : Wegovy dosing always begins low and increases gradually. Even if you were on a higher

Mounjaro dose, do not start Wegovy at a high dose immediately .

Steps to follow when switching 

Step 1: Speak to Your Healthcare Provider 

Discuss your plan with your Treat Discreet prescriber  or Cohens pharmacist  to ensure Wegovy is

suitable for your health and goals. 

Step 2: Stop Taking Mounjaro 

After your last dose, you can stop Mounjaro. No tapering is needed .

Step 3: Wait 7 Days Before Starting Wegovy 

Wait at least 7 days  to allow Mounjaro to leave your system and reduce side effect risk. 

Step 4: Start Wegovy on a Consistent Day 

Begin your first Wegovy injection on the same weekday you usually injected Mounjaro. 

Step 5: Monitor for Side Effects 

Common side effects of Wegovy include nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, constipation,

fatigue, and headache. They usually improve as your body adjusts. 

Step 6: Regular Follow -Ups

 

Check in with your prescriber to review progress, adjust doses, and address any side effects. 

 

  Safety Notes 

• Do not use Mounjaro and Wegovy simultaneously.
