Azithromycin is well tolerated and most people experience no side effects.
The most common side-effects are nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea. Details of rare and uncommon side-effects can be found in the information leaflet which comes with the treatment pack.
Take both tablets at the same time with a glass of water. The best time to take them is before bedtime and at least 2 hours after any food or drink (other than water).
Where possible, you should avoid taking antacids. If you do need to take any antacids, take the tablets at least one hour before or two hours after the antacid.
If you are taking oral contraceptives ('the pill') and Clamelle causes vomiting or diarrhoea, you must take the usual precautions for this as advised in the instruction leaflet that comes with your contraceptives.
You and your partner(s) must abstain from all sex (vaginal, oral, anal sex and using sex toys) until you have been treated - this includes sex using a condom. You should wait for 7 days after taking the treatment before having sex.
